How to decorate a large wall with ambience

A large, blank wall is like the interior designer's version of a blank canvas: ripe and ready to add personality. An empty wall just looks empty. Since the human mind does not like inactivity, emptiness and lack of stimuli are not good.

It takes some types of decorations to compensate for the presence of a blank wall. The skill Wall posters or murals, Furniture, accessories or anything to break the boredom of visual design. We're here to show you where to hang a picture, how to choose a color for the wall, what accent pieces to use.

Where can I hang up posters and pictures?

Unless your wall is made of solid wood, you can't just hang up wall posters and photos at random. You have to know where the right underground is.

Interior walls are built around frames that contain electrical boxes and plugs. Also called wall stands, these supports are the only safe places to hang a picture frame. Otherwise, just drive a nail into the plaster and it won't wear anything substantial.

You can knock on the wall and listen for the various noises that come from the wall. Unless you have exceptionally keen hearing, this method isn't as reliable as using a stud finder that lets you locate your support beams and measure one meter to the next.

With a wall marker, mark on the wall where you want the studs to serve as future reference. From here you can decide which frames to hang.

Choose your wall color

Part of renovating a blank wall could mean changing the color scheme. Whether you want to do this by applying wallpaper or painting is up to you.

Painting takes more time and is messier, but it's great for applying solid colors. Wallpaper is often patterned and can be applied a little faster.

If you have leftover wallpaper from an old home improvement project, frame them and hang them on the wall for quick color and texture. If you get it right, it's a cheap, quick alternative to renovating your entire wall.

Decide whether you want the wall to feel more intimate or more distant. An intimate, homely feeling is best achieved by using warm colors. If you choose to paint your wall red, orange, yellow, or any of the shades in between, sue warm colors. Green, blue and purple are cool colors that create a calming, distant effect.

Different colors evoke different emotions. Red encourages feelings of excitement or anger. Yellow is supposed to have a calming effect, but only if it is a pale yellow. Light, neon-like yellow encourages a greater sense of danger.

Whatever color you choose, don't over-fill them. Light, vibrant hues aren't always the best choices for interior walls. These colors can clash with those of other nearby walls in your home. It is best to use pastel versions of these colors so as not to overwhelm the eyes.

Put large accent parts first

The most common type of accent piece is a piece of furniture. You should put these up first and then put everything else around them to get attention.

For example, if you have a bookcase, you will want to place it in the center of the wall. Of course, this is intended for a single large bookcase; smaller pieces may need to be further apart.

When you have a single large accent piece, decide where to place it on the wall so that the eye is drawn to that area. If you have minor accent parts, place them equidistant from a central point.

An example would be the bookcase, with two sconces or potted plants on each side. The central point could be practically anything you can imagine.

A mirror can act as an accent piece if you don't have tall furniture. If you have flat furniture like a console table, hanging a mirror over it can accent the table.

When decorating a large wall, use as much space as possible without cluttering the space. Too much clutter makes the room feel too busy and overwhelming, probably not the effect you are trying to achieve.

Hanging wall posters and murals

If you haven't already marked where your wall stands are, now would be the best time to do so. Use a pencil mark that is dark enough to find it again, but not so dark that it can be clearly seen on the wall. Ideally, mark where you will drive the nail in.

You should get a rough idea of how big your Wall posters and murals will be on the wall before you hang them up. Otherwise, you will have to remove and reinsert the nails, which will take time and effort.

Place larger murals lower on the floor or closer to the center of the wall. They are the ones you are likely to want to exhibit, so they need to be as close to eye level as possible.

Take smaller pictures and mix them with the larger ones to create a sense of balance. You may also want to organize them by subject: family photos in one area, travel photos in another.

You could even place the photo frame in the chronological order they were taken to tell a story.

All it takes to effectively decorate a large wall is a little planning and foresight. Even if you don't have a huge collection of family photos, you can still add color to the wall.

Using paint and wallpaper together allows you to create a personalized exhibition. If you Murals If you have to hang up, remember to double check where your pimples are to avoid costly accidents.

Keep your furniture as close to the wall as possible to make the most of the space and keep electrical outlets free. People might want to charge their cell phones or you might want to plug something in. It's harder to move furniture than it is Wall posters or murals, so make sure you know where to put them.
