Longing for knowledge – an image of harmony

This work combines traditional Korean imagery with a contemporary interpretation of the Chaekgeori motif – here understood as longing for knowledge.

At the center are books, flowers, and carefully selected objects that together create a world of intellectual order.

Knowledge as a cultural ideal

In historical Korea, books were regarded as a symbol of inner cultivation.
Not wealth, but education and attitude determined a person's value. Chaekgeori paintings were therefore deliberately placed in living spaces – as a daily reminder of intellectual goals.

The phoenix and its meaning

In East Asia, the phoenix embodies the ideal of a perfect society.
It stands for:

Harmony between humans and nature
moral maturity
a world without inner unrest
