What do we see in this work of art?
This "Peonies" art print cushion by Korean artist Misun Kim features an imaginative depiction of a vase with a variety of flowers and leaves, all painted in a typical Asian style. The first thing you notice is the bright red peonies, which almost magnetically attract the viewer's gaze. The red color stands out the most compared to the other colors, followed by the yellow and pink flowers. It is a real sea of color, surrounded by brown bushes and green leaves. The other plants frame the flowers and emphasize them through their inconspicuousness. We follow the stems of the plants and finally reach the "vase". It is not a classic pottery, but a natural stone, which, however, has the strangest shapes and is strangely curved and deformed. The rock, with its flowing shapes and dark color, reminds us a little of volcanic rock, but perhaps it also comes from our artist's imagination.
