What do we see in this work of art?

In Germany we often find these fluffy and cheeky animals on our local pastures, but we rarely see them from this friendly perspective. The first thing we notice is the bright red tongue that the lamb sticks out towards us in an almost mocking manner. The black lips surround the tongue and highlight it even further. From the mouth we are forwarded to the snub nose and the eyes. The artist also painted this work in an almost photorealistic way. Both light and shadow as well as the subtle blurring effect in the ears contribute to the realistic look. The work of art “Lamb” embodies, like no other picture, the artist’s focus, which is particularly on childlike, happy motifs, but does not miss the detailed reproduction.
